A comprehensive pre-purchase exam is a smart decision when investing in a horse. Specifically Equine vets provide a thorough overall view of each prospective horse at its current state of health, fitness and soundness.
A basic pre-purchase exam entails:
•General health evaluation
- Eyes, skin, heart, lungs, conformation
•Musculoskeletal examination
- Palpation of the neck, back and limbs
- Limb flexions
- Hoof testers
- Lameness evaluation in hand and under saddle
We also recommend and offer mobile digital radiographs (and ultrasound) as well as lab testing for blood work and toxicity screening in order to provide the most information possible so that clients may make an “informed” decision.
